Watership Down. (Alex TRIED!)

Well, I was really excited for this one but...

OKAY. This was an amazing book but I eventually gave up on it. I love long books, but I just had to stop this one. I was enjoying it a lot and I loved the characters, the stories, and all the adventures the rabbits had, but nearly by the end I thought I just had enough and that it was getting a little bit old. :/

I know this is a classic and I do love classics, but the ending was too predictable and well, I just couldn't read it anymore because I lost my patience on the final battle! LOL. I usually don't do negative reviews, but I tried to be really positive on this one. However, I recommend this book to all animal lovers and country/folk stories. I liked the book a lot and I hope someday I can re-read and appreciate the pages that I left pending. :)

Watership Down is a really heartwarming story, I really enjoyed it! I love rabbits, yes, I do, but when I was almost over I had to give up. The plot is great, and so is the writing! It makes me imagine I'm in this pacific field, in a forest... it's lovely. But the book started repeating, repeating, repeating and repeating itself.

My favorite character was Hazel, his leading and cheerful spirit made the book have a positive feeling. The characters are really well developed, and it's interesting to be just a little kid's book. It does have a message, and it's a really good one, although it gets lost in the ending. Animals have feelings too, and they expressed it throug ht his book of the rabbits' necessity to expand their territory. One of my favorite parts is when Bigwig gets into the other rabbit civilization, (what was the name?) to get does for the village. An interesting well developed story for all animal lovers, and adventure ones.

When you first start reading it, you get the worst of the feelings, having really low expectations, but after reading through and getting interested, you eventually start to fall in love with all of the characters. I WANT HAZEL TO BE MY PET RABBIT! In conclusion, this book is an amazing read, great to spend your time and increase your knowledge, also, this gives you time to think about what's going on with the animals nowadays.

It's Raining Cupcakes

I'm back! I bought this book today and it took me a really short time to read it... I have to say I really loved it, the cover caught my attention and it was too gorgeous, and it inspired me to do lots of things.

This book was really cute! It was a good fast read and I really enjoyed it. Lisa Schroeder made an amazing job, and I'm looking forward to read some of her books. This book is really totally different from what I'm used to read, but the cover really caught my attention, the colors are too pretty! Also I've seen this mentioned in various book blogs I really like! :)

The story is really beautiful, it's just about a normal girl having family problems, trying to raise money to go on a trip, and she makes some friends. It's a simple storyline but I really loved it and I didn't put the book down. In this book, Isabella's mother wants to open a cupcake shop, but then, there's too much pressure for everyone in the family and Isabella's mother starts to doubt if this was a good idea.

All Isabella wants to do is travel, and make her mom stop thinking only about herself. I think this was a nice story of following your dreams, make the right choices, listen to the advice form the people that love you, and think about something you want to fulfill in life.

She has great experiences with her best friend Sophie; which she kind of is jealous with, her Grandma, Barber Stan, Neighbor Lana and two devil twins that she's suppoused to be babysitting!

This has motivated me to improve some relationships with people and work harder to fulfill some of my goals and dreams, I think Sophie and her passport holder are now my inspiration. I loved it, it was really beautiful and it has really made me think about my choices in life! ;)

Evertaster (A book I fell in love with!)

After long hours of search on Amazon, I found "Evertaster". I had really low expectations for the book, but then I realized that I was wrong! This is one of the best books I've ever read in my life and I think that this is one of the best novels for children and teens.

"Evertaster", by Adam Glendon Sidwell, is the story of 11 year old Guster Johnsonville, a boy that finds almost all food prepared by her mother disgusting. After a visit to a french patisserie prepared by her mom (along with Guster's siblings) as the result of Guster's mom's frustration. At the patisserie, some strange events happen. Events that will change Guster's life and that will take the whole Johnsonville into an amazing journey all around the world, in search for a mystical recipe for "The Gastronomy of Peace".

This book has lots of factors that I found quite enjoyable: there was adventure, action, drama, humor... AND IT MADE ME REAAAAL HUNGRY! Adam Glendon Sidwell was really creative and he made a very interesting story that will entertain readers of all ages.

The characters have great personalities, we get to explore the opposite sides of them and... honestly, I fell in love with the characters. Mariah: a geeky smart girl that's encharged of all the research, Zeke: an annoying old sibling that just enjoys bothering Guster and calls him mean nicknames, and Henry Jr: the baby of the family. On their way they travel to many places, like Africa, Norway, Perú... and they make friends... and some enemies too!

I guess my favorite characters were Guster, Mariah, and Felicity Casa: a professional cook that owns a television program which Guster's mom is a huge fan of. Felicity Casa makes many types of things in her shows to help out housewives. Adam sure knew how to place the characters in their stories... I would speak more of Felicity Casa but I just don't want to ruin the book for other readers! LOL :)

All the descriptions of the food made me real hungry. They made my mouth water. I really felt like I was actually eating the ingredients for the Gastronomy of Peace, or just some other dish mentioned in the book. This is a book that will make you real hungry! *short minor spoiler* In one of the final scenes, when Guster tastes the Recipe, I really felt like I was with Guster too! *end of spoilers*

My favorite scenes in the book? Hmmph... that's just a tie between the Africa and Norway scene. I loved them both! I laughed many times with this book, it's just too humorous and a mixture of lots of feelings. Adam Glendon Sidwell is a new author to have on the watch! I expect more interesting novels and books form him, and yes, THERE WILL BE A SEQUEL FOR EVERTASTER!

This is a book that's worth reading, besides, it's cover was amazing, it was one of the things that attracted me to the book. I regret having the lowest expectations for this book because it was really great. This is a book for children, teens, and adults! Everybody will love the book and fall in love with the character's amazing personalities.

Give it a try, because it's really awesome! ;)

A Buffalope's Tale (& something I found out!)

Say whaaat? Guess what I found out people! Something that really amazed me. Ok, so while googling information for a fourth book of the Sebastian Darke series, I finally found an official letter written by Philip Caveney!

"Just a word to all you Sebastian Darke fans out there, to let you know that I’m currently editing the fourth and final book in the series, Prince Of Spies – and that, all being well, it will be released in September 2012."

Isn't that cool? I'm really surprised, seriously. I think most of you knew already but I found out the cover on Amazon, it looks kind of weird but I'm pretty sure they'll change it to the style of the other covers, you know... the ones that go with the Kindle e-books (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/6143H9LdPrL._SL500_AA300_.jpg)

Oh well, now to the review... sorry I just got really excited. September will be a month of books! The Cyndi Lauper memoir is coming out and so is Prince of Spies, gah! :D

Ok, now, for the book... IT WAS SOOOOO AWESOME! Guys, this book was too much for my feelings. I loved how Caveney mixed all those Max stories, he made me feel very interested in the book. The Max in "A Buffalope's Tale" is a totally different Max from the Darke trilogy. In the trilogy, Max is just a complaining buffalope, he's a nice creature but he's very lazy... and who would blame him? After all those years of working! In "A Buffalope's Tale", we get to discover Max's first years.

This book is amazing, you get touched in the heart because of what happens to Max in his childhood... All his adventures are so interesting and well, I think this book is very surprising for the Sebastian Darke fans because this is a totally different Max. This Max is a hard-working creature, an enthusiastic buffalope who loves his master.

I think "A Buffalope's Tale" is very funny, all the jokes and everything made me laugh a lot... "What's fat, stupid, and full of wind?" -"Oh don't be so hard on yourseeelf!" Hahaha! That made me laugh a lot. Caveney made his best, Alexander's jokes are way funnier than Sebastian's. Although the ending didn't make me happy (the ending was really fast, all Max had to do is get Old Mags to the house to help out Mistress Sarah on her birth), the book was excellent, and even better than I expected. Yes, I had really low expectations for this book, but it ended up being really good.

I think this is not a reading for everyone, this is a reading for the people that had read the other Sebastian Darke books, or else, they will feel totally lost and they won't appreciate correctly the book, or just won't understand the different personalitites of the books.

Anyway, I have to say it was great. I give it 4.5 cookies

Sebastian Darke: Prince of Explorers

After 3 books of adventures with Sebastian, Max, and Cornelius, Philip Caveney decides to end the trilogy of the Prince of Fools. This book means a lot to me, Sebastian Darke meant a lot to me! (:

I'm a huge fan of the series, I know almost everything about the books, but sadly, it's now over! And I have to say this was an amazing ending for such an epic trilogy that will always be in my heart! :3

This time Sebastian, Max, and Cornelius, team up to go on an expedition organized by Thaddeus Peel in order to get money to get back and get the treasure they found with Jenna Swift in book two. The mission Peel assigned them was bring back a proof of the existance of the lost city of Mendip, an ancient civilization which has been spoken of in many generations. On the way, the warriors arrive with a tribe called the Jilith where they meet a woman named Keera, the daughter of the Maccan, the leader of this tribe.

According go the Jilith, Sebastian is 'The Chosen One'. The Jilith have this rare prophecy that says that one day a man with a tricorn hat will arrive to the city and save them from an evil force that has been haunting them for ages, the Gograths. The Jilith and the travelers make a deal, that if they get the Gograths out of town, they will be allowed to go Mendip (someone from the tribe happens to know where it is located.) Later, Cornelius and Sebastian team up with other warriors named Cal and Galt to defeat the Gograths, and when they do it, they head to the city of Mendip, along with Keera and a mute girl named Salah.

This book was great, it had lots of actions, friendship, and I loved the relationships between the characters. When they got to the city and meet Aaron (an old man that takes care of the children of the city) it really made me wanna cry because he had sacrificed a lot just for the children's lives. I liked that there were two kinds of villains in the story. First the Gograths, and then the Night Runners. Personally, I think the Night Runners were the best villains. One thing I didn't like about the book? Cal. I know Cal is an essential part of the story, but seriously, I didn't like that he was just discussing around with Sebastian all the time, geez! xD

And Max's sarcasm... "WHO INVITED LAUGHING BOY?" I think that was the BEST quote in the whole book! One thing I also liked is that Salah suddenly gets the hability to speak. "She doesn't speak because she doesn't want to", says Phelan, a boy that ends up as Salah's boyfriend. I think that quote was very... weird. It was an awesome quote though. Anyway, what I disliked of the book was that everything in the battle happened too fast, but it was okay. Maybe the battle with the Gograth's wasn't the best scene from the book, but it was still okay.

Once again, Caveney does an amazing job, and I think he did the best ending ever. Sebastian ends up alone. When he gets to this city called Veltan, the villagers tell him that Jenna Swift and The Kid (characters from the second book) are dead. Sebastian is broken-hearted, since he was in love with her. Cal ends up dying and becomes a Night Runner, but at least he gets to be with his best friend, Galt. And for Aaron? Aaron dies doing what he always wanted, defeating the Night Runners. His mission was complete now.

This book was an amazing ending for the trilogy, and I really expect that soon, there is a fourth book on that pending adventure they say they will have at the end of the book! ;)

Tango: The Tale of an Island Dog

While looking for books for my Kindle, I found this one. It's not the type of book I'm used to read, but this one caught my attention. There was something in the cover that reaaally caught my attention, so I decided to give it a try!

Tango: The Tale of an Island Dog is a book about a Yorkshire Terrier owned by a very rich family that lives in Manhattan. One day, this family goes sailing. A storm crashed the boat and made Tango fall to the sea, and then, the storm drove Tango to Prince Edward Island. In the island, he gets picked up by a woman named Augusta. He meets animals like an old friendly fox named Beau, who is the guardian of a girl called McKenna. He also meets an evil cat gang, leadered by a bad cat named Axel.

In this book, we get to know Tango's adventures and attempts to get back home to Manhattan, and how the people in the island care and love Tango after spending enough time with him.

This book was beautiful! As I said, I'm not used to read this kind of books, but I have to say I really loved this one. I think some of the cat gang parts were funny. Also, I got really sad because Tango really wanted to return home, but Miss Augusta and McKenna loved him. Finally he realized that in the island, there were lots of people that loved him, like Beau and the other animals. These kind of stories really touch me, and yes, this is a beautiful book.

The ending cheered me up, because at the end, Nigel (a member of the cat gang), Tango, McKenna, and Augusta sticked together and made a family. It is a great book, indeed. Loved it. My least favorite parts of the book were all those parts involving Diego and Marcellina (the owners of Tango). Yes, I know they're a fundamental part of the story but I didn't really like all that "Life in Manhattan" bits. But  I have to say I really loved the book! :D

Eileen Beha did an amazing job with this book, in fact, I think she should make more books! I would love a Tango sequel but some original stories would also be cool. I loved the book. You can check it out at GoodReads, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7439498-tango
